Values Curriculum
We know that as a community hospital school, our cohort often shrink their worlds to a manageable, safe environment which can limit their social and cultural capital.
In keeping with our ethos of unconditional positive regard and as a Hope led school, we believe in providing opportunities for all students to explore and further develop their own core beliefs and values within the context of the world they inhabit.
We therefore place high value on the themes of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education, Fundamental British Values and Citizenship. All these areas transcend the academic and personal development curriculum and link with aspects of Hope.
In addition to external visitors, our weekly morning tutorial program consists of a range of sessions designed to build skills and knowledge:

Stories of Hope are shared by staff members, either from topical news stories, our Hopeful heroes or specially selected books. |
Opportunity to explore “Job of the Week” and discuss the skills required and to look at work experience opportunities. For KS4, the first Tuesday of the month focusses on a citizenship theme. |
A fun session designed to enhance problem solving skills and increase confidence with Maths. |
Opportunity to discuss challenging issues related to current affairs and citizenship and take part in a national vote. |
The whole school community pauses to read, either to themselves, a member of staff or collectively as a group. |
The sub-pages in this section provide a flavour of just some of the additional coverage we offer in each area.
