Attendance

Just like any other school, attendance at The Pilgrim School is really important and we will do all we can to support you so that you can attend your provision. We understand that you are accessing your education at The Pilgrim School for a reason and many of these reasons impact your ability to access your provision 100% of the time but we will work with you to minimise this impact so that you can get the most out of your education. Absence Protocol

If you are going to be absent from school we ask that your parent/guardian makes contact with the base you are due to attend or, in the case of Home Taught pupils, the teacher/PSWS you are due to have a lesson with as soon as you know you are going to be absent. This allows us to keep our records up to date and to know that you are safe. If you access a school base and travel to school in a taxi, we also ask that your parent/guardian cancels the taxi for that day to prevent a wasted journey and other pupils on your route being kept waiting. This procedure needs to happen every day that you are absent from school.

If we don't hear from you or your parent/guardian a member of our admin team will be in touch to check that you are safe and to find out the reason for absence. We will continue to attempt to make contact throughout the day until we have spoken to a responsible adult who can confirm your whereabouts. In some cases, it may be necessary to carry out a "safe and well check" to your home if we have not been able to get in touch with someone. Please be aware that this may be done by staff from your mainstream school.
