Art Department
Jackie - Art/Foundation Learning
I left School knowing that I wanted to study art further, which led me to completing various art courses at college ranging from GCSE level, through to A level. I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that involved art, so I applied for Art College at the University of Ulster. I was offered an unconditional place which I accepted. I spent 3 years completing a BA Hons in Fine and Applied Art. It was at this point that I decided I would love to pass on my love of art to others, so I pursued a qualification in teaching which I completed at Bangor University in Wales. My first teaching placement was The Lancaster Boys School in Leicester and it was there that I established that I had an interest in working with SEN students. This led me to apply for, accept and thoroughly love the role of Head of KS3 at Maplewell Hall for moderate learning difficulties. When my husband and I moved to Lincolnshire it was because we wanted to be closer to the coast, as we had missed this whilst living in Leicester. I wanted to continue working with and supporting young people with additional needs and was made aware of the work that the Pilgrim School does. I sent an email of interest to The Pilgrim School, starting working for them in various roles and now as an art teacher and there has been no looking back since. I thoroughly enjoy passing on my passion for Art to others.
