Visit to Lincolnshire Construction Fayre
On Thursday 26th September, we took a group of pupils to a Construction Event at Lincolnshire Showground.
On Thursday a group of Pilgrim pupils took part in a very successful trip to the Construction Event at Lincolnshire Showground. The small group of pupils engaged with the activities on offer and thoroughly enjoyed each of the programme events.
During our time there, they all engaged with 4 events:
- Joinery with students from Lincoln College
- Earth Building with Millstone Restoration Training
- Problem Solving, Resilience and Team Building with Cadet Vocational College
- Scaffolding with Premier Access Scaffolding
All the pupils learnt new skills and were fully hands-on with the various activities.
Unfortunately due to time constraints the pupils, parent and staff had to leave the event by 2pm in order to get back to school and missed the prize giving ceremony. There were many different schools at this event, primary and secondary and each of the activities chose a pupil who showed skills, determination, engagement and drive to receive an award. It is important to note that not all schools had pupils selected for an award and some of these had numerous pupils at the event.
We are so proud to announce that two of our pupils received awards, which were accepted on their behalf by Neil Blackwell.
Of the two awards, one award was given to the best pupil in joinery and the joinery tutor from Lincoln College said how impressed he was with them as they had natural skills. The other award was presented to the best pupil in earth building and impressed the Team Leader from Millstone Restoration Training.
This means that 50% of our cohort at the event received awards. Even the larger schools only had 1 or 2 pupils selected from 30 - 40 pupils of their cohort. This says it all about The Pilgrim School and the encouragement we provide our pupils. Thanks go to the staff and pupils who attended the event and made the day a real success.
